Our Story

Our story and our namesake, “Savoy,” comes from the world-famous Savoy Ballroom, frequented in New York City from 1926 to 1958. The Savoy was renowned for its amazing, beautiful ballroom. The magnificent locale epitomized elegance and class. We strive to live up to that reputation with our own venue by not only creating an exquisite space for hosting special events, but working hard to ensure our services and staff exceed expectations at all times!

As part of the original Commercial Street Historic District, the building we occupy once had as many as four separate storefronts. In the 1940s, F.W. Woolworth & Company renovated and merged what was three adjoining buildings into one. This renovation created a single room which is the main ballroom. Sunshine Furniture and Appliance made its home here in the late ’60s. In the mid-’90s, the adjoining property, now the Savoy’s courtyard, was just a vacant lot owned by Coca-Cola Bottling Company. During this time, the Class Act Flea Market acquired the lot and both properties were merged into a single address. In 2004, the property sold to investors and sat vacant until it was purchased and renovated in 2009. The Savoy Ballroom emerged and opened its doors in August 2010.

Today, Savoy Ballroom is one of the largest and most unique venues in southwest Missouri. With original maple hardwood floors, stunning 14-foot high tin ceilings, nine brilliant crystal chandeliers and an impeccably landscaped courtyard, the versatile Savoy Ballroom is the perfect venue for any occasion.
