Our History

Our namesake, "Savoy," comes from the world famous Savoy Ballroom that existed in New York City from 1926 to 1958. The Savoy was renowned for being an amazing and beautiful ballroom that epitomized elegance and class. We strive to live up to that reputation with our own venue in not only creating a beautiful elegant space for hosting special events, but working hard to ensure that our services and our staff are above expectations at all times!

The building we now operate in was as many as four separate store fronts in the original Commercial Street Historic District. The main ballroom became a single room when in the 1940's, F.W. Woolworth's renovated and merged what was once three adjoined buildings into one. This lasted until the late 60's when Sunshine Furniture and Appliance opened. This lasted until the mid-90's when the property became the Class Act Flea Market. During this time, the adjoining property that is now the Savoy's courtyard, was just a vacant lot owned by Coca Cola Bottling Company. The Class Act acquired the lot and that was when the entire property became a single address. In 2004, the property sold to investors and sat vacant until it was purchased and renovated in 2009 into the Savoy Ballroom. The Savoy Ballroom opened in August 2010, and quickly established a reputation for the finest and most elegant events in Southwest Missouri!
